How to Remove Video Background

The model uses temporal consistency between frames to reduce flickering and produce smooth rotoscoping results across the entire video.

03Download Transparent WebMThe processed video is encoded as a WebM file with VP9 alpha channel transparency, allowing the background to be completely removed. The output can be composited over any background in video editors, streaming software, or web pages that support alpha-channel video playback.

Privacy & Security

Video uploads are processed on ConvertCraft servers within isolated, encrypted containers. Our ML inference pipeline runs entirely server-side — no data is shared with third parties. All uploaded files and generated outputs are permanently deleted from our servers immediately after processing completes.

About Video Background Remover

This tool employs a deep learning segmentation neural network to generate per-pixel alpha mattes for each video frame. The AI model performs instance segmentation to isolate the primary subject (typically a person) from the background, producing a WebM output with VP9 alpha channel transparency. The pipeline includes temporal smoothing to maintain frame-to-frame consistency and reduce rotoscoping artifacts. Best results are achieved with front-facing subjects, solid or simple backgrounds, and consistent lighting conditions.
