How to Create and Extract ZIP Archives Without Installing Software

Create, extract, and manage ZIP files directly in your browser. No desktop software, no upload — free and private.

ZIP archives are everywhere — email attachments, software downloads, backup bundles, and file sharing. While most operating systems include basic ZIP support, browser-based tools offer unique advantages: they work on any device, require no installation, and keep files private.

ConvertCraft provides both ZIP creation and extraction tools that run entirely in your browser. Drop files to create an archive, or drop an archive to extract its contents — no upload to any server.

Creating a ZIP: select your files, optionally set a password for AES-256 encryption, and download the archive. The tool compresses each file optimally — text files get heavy compression while already-compressed formats like JPG and MP4 are stored efficiently.

Extracting a ZIP: drop the archive file and the tool shows a tree view of all contents. Preview files before extracting, select specific files, or extract everything at once. Password-protected archives prompt for the password automatically.

The tools support ZIP, 7Z, TAR, and GZ formats. For maximum compression, 7Z typically produces smaller archives than ZIP, but ZIP has broader compatibility across devices and operating systems.
