How to Colour Correct Video

02Adjust Colour SettingsUse the three sliders to fine-tune your image: Brightness shifts the overall luminance level (range: -1 to 1), Contrast adjusts the difference between light and dark areas (range: 0 to 3, default 1.0), and Saturation controls colour intensity (range: 0 to 3, default 1.0). These map directly to FFmpeg's EQ2 filter parameters, providing precise control over the video signal.

03Apply & DownloadThe correction pipeline applies the EQ2 filter in a single encoding pass, processing each frame's luma and chroma components independently. The output is re-encoded with your chosen quality settings while preserving the original resolution and frame rate. The result is streamed for instant download.

Privacy & Security

Video uploads are transferred over encrypted connections to ConvertCraft servers and processed within isolated containers. No video data is cached, shared, or used for model training. All original and processed files are permanently deleted from our infrastructure immediately after your session concludes.

About Video Color Correction

This tool applies real-time colour grading using FFmpeg's EQ2 video filter, which adjusts luma (brightness), luma contrast, and chroma saturation on a per-frame basis. Brightness shifts the black point, contrast scales the luminance range around a pivot, and saturation scales the chroma components (Cb/Cr) to increase or decrease colour vibrancy. Setting saturation to 0 produces a greyscale (black-and-white) output by zeroing the chroma channels. The filter operates in the YUV colour space, preserving colour accuracy throughout the pipeline.

When to use it

Essential for correcting underexposed footage shot in low light, fixing washed-out colours from overexposed scenes, or adding visual punch to flat, low-contrast video. Also useful for colour-matching clips from different cameras in an edit, creating stylised colour-graded looks for social media content, or converting colour footage to black-and-white by zeroing saturation. Perfect for quick fixes before publishing without needing a full NLE colour suite.

Tips & Tricks

•Make small, incremental adjustments (0.1–0.2 at a time) — subtle corrections look far more natural than heavy-handed changes
•Raise saturation to 1.2–1.4 for vivid, eye-catching social media content without oversaturating skin tones
•Set saturation to 0 for an instant black-and-white effect — great for dramatic or nostalgic video styles
•Use contrast 1.1–1.3 to add depth to flat, overcast footage without crushing shadows or blowing highlights
•Combine a slight brightness boost (0.1–0.2) with contrast increase for the most common indoor lighting correction scenario
